The Original Cowboys
To begin this blog entry, I would like to wish a Happy Black History Month to all of my peers who have decided to tune in this week to my blog!
Now, what is white-washing? White-washing according to the image below is the practice of using only white actors, models, or performers; especially the practice of using a white actor to play a character who is not white.

White-washing has always been a problem in society, and it shows when it comes to movies about cowboys, who are usually depicted as white men, when according to Holloway, is indeed not true.
One out of five cowboys in the west were Black, despite the fact that movies portray most, if not all cowboys as white men. The media never shows the fact that there were Black cowboys as well.
Cowboys have culture which originated in Africa, but it has just recently started getting the recognition about that. Despite the fact that there is a little bit of recognition for Black cowboys, most white people do not acknowledge the fact that all cowboys are not white.
This article and everything it is saying about Black cowboys is relevant still to this day, being that when new cowboy movies are being made that do not show that there are any Black cowboys that have ever existed.
Black (American) cowboys introduced some Africans to the native cowboy language along with their songs. Black cowboys had and still have a major influence on American culture, despite a lot people not knowing that.
