Let's Discuss Dr. Marimba Ani

On Friday, April 5th, 2024, Dr. Marimba Ani was welcomed to the illustrious Morgan State University to discuss her novels. Specifically, her work "Let the Circle Be Unbroken: The Implications of African Spirituality in the Diaspora". During this discussion, Ani allowed many of the attendees to ask questions that they had for her about both the novel and things outside of that, that they'd want her input on.

As a young student, being able to attend this event in the first place is something that I enjoyed deeply. Although it was for extra credit points, I still found myself being entertained by the conversation at hand and the questions that the attendees had.

The auditorium in itself was almost completely packed, which shows just how many people wanted to sit and hear Dr. Ani speak about her work, which was originally published in 1992, over thirty years ago! Which means that the book is older than some of the people who were in attendance!

Going into something like this I expected myself to be bored and uninterested as I didn't hear anything abut it until my professor published it for an extra credit assignment. Quickly, however, my mind was changed.

The way that Dr. Marimba Ani speaks about her work and shows a lot of passion and interest. It is beyond amazing to see people be so dedicated and passionate about their craft even thirty years after original publication. This was an amazing experience and I would love for more people to be able to attend a lecture like this, whether for extra credit or out of pure interest.
